TV documentary ‘The Very British Brothel’ raised a few eyebrows yesterday evening, especially when one sex worker claims that she sees her services as ‘charitable’.
Foxy- a prostitute who featured in the documentary- claimed that she ‘helps others’ through selling her body.
The sex worker went as far as to claim that she helps prevent people from committing suicide by ‘listening to their problems’ and giving them intimacy that they crave.
Viewers took to Twitter to express their outrage about her comments.
One fumed: "So she's a prostitute working in a brothel in Sheffield and she's just compared herself to being a charity - as all she does is give - WOW!"
Another typed: "Comparing working in a brothel to doing charity work, I nearly choked on my m&ms(sic).”
But brothel owner Kath, who runs the ‘City Sauna’ with daughter Jenni, also claimed that their services weren’t always sexual, and that some clients simply visited them when they felt lonely or depressed.
Despite the obvious stigma that comes with working in the sex industry, Kath says that she feels no shame with running a sauna.
She said in the documentary: "All I ever wanted to do was own a massage parlour.
"My ex father in law used to run one and I used to help him and it's something different."
