Jen Bulik, 35, was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer in January, and by June was told she had just 4-6 months to live. Deciding she 'wanted to focus on life' Jen began planning a quick wedding to her fiance Jeff Lang.
'This was an opportunity I saw to do something extraordinary for somebody else,'
But after friends of the couple posted details of their story on a Facebook page for wedding planners, a woman named Erica Ota stepped in.
At first, the social worker turned wedding planner said she wanted to just help out with a few things on the day, but after stumbling across Jen's Pininterest, which detailed ideas for her perfect wedding - Erica decided she had to do much more.
'This was an opportunity I saw to do something extraordinary for somebody else,' said Erica, 'so why not?'
Enlisting the help of 40 local vendors, Erica made sure the couple didn't have to spend a penny on their big day.
'These people have suffered enough. Why not give them...a gift that both of them...and their families will never forget.'
Jen and Jeff, who are clearly touched by Erica's efforts, are due to get married this weekend under Red Wood trees in a park close to Jen's house.
Describing the couple, Erica said they are: 'the most humble, deserving couple you'll ever meet. Their outlook on life is incredibly positive.'
