When it comes to picking up your child from their school or nursery at the end of the day, it’s exciting to hear what they’ve been up to.

And one day care centre in the US has made sure that parents are giving their kids the attention they deserve by posting a blunt note on the door with some demands.

They are asking parents to put down their phones when collecting their children and the note has now gone viral!

It reads: “You are picking up your child! GET OFF YOUR PHONE!!!!

Your child is happy to see you! Are you happy to see your child??

We have seen children trying to hand their parents their work they completed and the parent is on the phone.

We have heard a child say, ‘Mommy, mommy, mommy …’ and the parent is paying more attention to their phone than their own child.

It is appalling. Get off your phone!

Although the message sounds harsh, many people agree with the sentiment and feel that parents should be there to give their children their full attention when they pick them up from their day care.

No matter how old you are, there’s no denying that in this day and age we can all become a little addicted to our mobiles – whether we’re replying to messages, or turning to Google to help us come up with something tasty for dinner.

But this note serves to remind us how important it is that we are present for our children.

The note was posted by a mother, Juliana Farris Mazurkewicz, and has been shared 1.3 million times – testament to the fact that many parents agree with it.

It has garnered over 10,000 comments with many applauding its honesty.

“Well said, stay off the phone!” one person said.

“So sad … I can only guess how those kids feel,” another wrote.

Others pointed out the irony that many people seeing the post would be reading it on their phones.

But we have to agree that it rings true, and echo the importance of giving your child your full attention when they are trying to communicate with you.
