The city of Bangkok is in shock after a motorbike carrying a deadly TNT bomb reportedly exploded in the town centre, near the Chidlom district of the capital at 7pm today.

The bomb went off near the Erawan Hindu shrine- a popular tourist attraction, as well as a district often used for political demonstrations.

A second bomb was discovered inside the shrine, but quickly defused.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Bangkok resident Thomas O'Malley told Sky News:

"I was jogging and I felt a really large explosion. I rounded the corner where the busy shopping malls are and saw the smoke, fire, absolute chaos, and a fireball.

"There were body parts in the street."

Speaking about the attack, defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwong said: "It was a TNT bomb... the people who did it targeted foreigners and to damage tourism and the economy."
