The five-week-old girl was apparently in her father’s arms when he was attacked by two men in Brisbane, Australia yesterday afternoon.

As the three men scuffled, the baby was knocked from her father’s arms and flung three metres into the air.

She fell down and landed heavily on her head.

"She was flying up in the air," the girl's father, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, told 9NEWS.

"I saw her fly about five feet in the air over and above my height then come down and land … beside the car.”

He added: “I heard her lose her breath, and then just gasp and start screaming.”

The attackers attempted to take the man’s bag and child when they fled the scene.

Thankfully the little girl, who was left with head injuries, is now recovering in hospital.

She has been cleared of a suspected skull fracture, but remains in a serious condition.

Her father said: "It's just bruising and severe concussion, she seems to be doing ok."

Two men, aged 26 and 48, have each been charged with assault offences over the alleged attack.
