Tracy Connelly, 32, was sentenced to a minimum of five years in prison in May 2009, over the death of her 17-month-old son in 2007.

According to reports, Connelly was released after being granted parole earlier this month, having been deemed as posing ‘no risk to the public’.

Sources say she has been given a new name and hairstyle in an attempt to help her live her life anonymously.

This comes after Sharon Shoesmith, former Haringey council director of child services, received a £600,000 payout for her unfair dismissal claim after she was sacked over her department’s failure in the Baby P case.

Social workers, health professionals and police officers had visited 60 times in eight months, with Peter even being taken into care but returned after one month in 2006.

Baby P suffered from over 50 injuries inflicted by Connelly’s boyfriend Stephen Barker.

Peter’s death came a day after he was taken to hospital, where a broken back and broken ribs are thought to have gone undetected by doctors.

Conelly admitted she did nothing while her boyfriend, Steven Barker, and his brother, Jason Owen, tortured Peter to death.

Barker and Owen are both currently in prison - Barker was originally given a 12-year sentence, which then increased to a life sentence after he was convicted of rape in a separate case.

Owen was jailed indefinitely with a minimum three-year term, but an appeal later led to it being changed to a fixed six-year term. He was freed in August 2011 but has since been recalled to prison.

The news of Connelly’s release has outraged relatives of Baby Peter’s father, who said she should never be let out.
