The use of phones at gigs may just be a thing of the past

Ever been at a concert and the person in front of you is filming the WHOLE thing on their iPhone?

So much so that they’re literally watching the show through a tiny screen – instead of enjoying the spectacle with their own eyes.

It’s kind of annoying isn’t it? What ever happened to just living in the moment and enjoying the music?

World-renowned artist Adele stopped one of her sell-out shows in Italy recently to ask a fan: "Could you stop filming me with that video camera? Because I’m really here in real life, you can enjoy it in real life rather than through your camera."

Adding: "This isn’t a DVD, this is a real show."

Should the use of mobile phone cameras be banned at gigs? Just like the use of big professional cameras?

Or should we be able to record memories and take them home with us?

The tech giants over at Apple have been toying with the idea of a patent that will help disable the iPhone camera function agaisn’t their will at certain locations. Be it an Adele concert, a church or the cinema.

Placing a infrared emitter in places where photography is barred, could generate signals that have encoded data and camera-blocking commands. Your iPhone then receives these signals, blocking you from taking a picture or videoing.

The tech gurus explained: "[The device] may be unable to display or store images if the device has received a command to disable recording. If a user selects a record function while that function is temporarily disabled, [the display] may provide a black screen with [a notification] to notify the user that recording has been disabled."

Sounds very complicated.

However, all these plans are patent, which means ideas are thrown around and sometimes developed by Apple – but it could be possible.

Could you imagine such a world?

Is all this a good or a bad idea?
