And on Friday Indonesian police confirmed that Schaefer admitted to killing his girlfriend’s mother after an argument, stuffing her hacked up body into a suitcase before abandoning it outside the luxury St. Regis hotel.

The pair brought the suitcase down to a taxi, saying they would come back, but after they did not return for two hours the driver became suspicious and noticed blood seeping from the bag.

Tommy and Heather attempted to flee after the incident in August, and were arrested at a hotel near the airport. Heather is also said to be two months pregnant with Schaefer’s child, who could well be born in prison if the pair are convicted.

Heather is also thought to have been involved in her 62-year-old mother's death, and was recently placed in solitary confinement in a Bali jail.
