The 25 passengers were on a three-day voyage between Indonesian islands Lombok and Komodo when their boat ran into trouble, capsizing into the ocean.

Ten of the passengers swam for over six hours to an erupting volcano island, where they drank their own urine and ate leaves to survive.

A further 8 people were rescued days later, meaning only 2 are still unaccounted for. Amongst those rescued were five Dutch, four Germans, three Italians, two Spanish and two Kiwis - with one each from France and Britain.

One of the rescued said it was 'a terrible experience. We swam in choppy waters for seven hours before being found by a fisherman.'

Another described the moment they made the decision to swim towards shore, after realising they were being taken further out to sea.

They arrived on the island as the sun was setting, and were finally rescued by a passing boat on Sunday, who took them to a hotel on Sumbawa island, about 20 miles away.
