The mother of murdered school girl Alice Gross has spoken out about her grief following her daughter’s tragic death last year.

The 14-year-old went missing on the 28 August 2014, sparking a massive police hunt; the biggest in London since the aftermath of 2005’s 7/7 bombings.

Her body was found on October 1. Three days later they found the body of her killer Arnis Zalkalns in woodland nearby.

Nearly a year since she was reported missing, Alice’s parents have spoken of the agony they still feel as they try and find a new ‘normal’ without their beloved daughter.

Her mother Rosalind Gross told ITV: “What changes is your ability to manage it. Feelings don't go away. But perhaps the face you put on gets tougher.”

She added: “You get a slightly thicker skin. I don't think you ever really recover."

In memory of Alice, Rosalind along with husband Jose and daughter Nina continue to fundraise for youth music charities.

Alice was a devoted and talented musician and her life was ‘very much about music’.

"It was her passion," Rosalind said. "We're trying through the charity fundraising to honour her memory. Youth Music is a fantastic charity."
