Instead of asking for a new video console or bundles of other presents on his birthday, William’s wishes were simply to receive food donations from the local community.

Knowing that children in his class were food deprived, he decided to make a change and ask his friends and family to donate to the charity BackPack Buddies - which helps feed impoverished children.

How cute is he!

William even asked his local supermarket manager if he could hand out flyers to raise awareness, saying: 'Come on, man. Think win-win. You get the money and I get the food for BackPack Buddies and we both win.'

In Williams first year he raised $300 and 1,400 pounds in food donations. In his second year he raised a further $3000 and received 3,300 pounds of food. Along with donated money William has also received a grant of $500 from Sodexo Foundation, who since 1999 have made over 20 million dollars in grants to help children.

Unsure on his own career path, William is focusing all his attention on raising five times the amount he has already raised, with the help of fellow classmates.

A selfless, dedicated school child, supported by his parents and class friends, we're sure we will be hearing much more about William in future.
