The 15-year-old boy was charged with the murder of Ann Maguire, 61, who was found stabbed to death.

Mrs Maguire was a teacher at Corpus Christi Catholic School in Leeds, which is also where she was found dead.

Spanish teacher Ann was stabbed in front of around 30 pupils at the school on Monday morning. She had been a teacher there for 40 years.

Head teacher Steve Mort said of the situation: “Over the past 48 hours we have drawn an incredible amount of strength and comfort from all the amazing tributes and messages of sympathy and support we have received from right across the country and indeed the world.”

The Crown Prosecution Service said that there is enough evidence to charge a 15-year-old boy with the murder of Mrs Maguire.

Peter Mann, of the CPS West and North Yorkshire said: “The family of Mrs Maguire have been informed of this decision and they will be offered a meeting to explain the trial process and answer any questions they may have.”

He will appear at Leeds Youth Court tomorrow, before appearing for a bail hearing at Leeds Crown Court on 2 May.

Tributes have been left outside the school, including flowers, teddy bears and photographs pinned the railings.

Mr Mort said of Ann: “Ann was first and foremost highly aspirational for all our students, regardless of their background or ability. She never gave up on pupils, even at times they had given up on themselves.”
