When Lisa Royle learned that she had breast cancer - and would need a mastectomy - she decided to take to Facebook in a bid to stop other women from going through the same thing.

The 42-year-old wrote movingly: “Ok, so I never thought I’d post a boob picture on Facebook but I thought I would before it gets chopped off next week.

“So here it is..... this all that I found on my boob.

"Very subtle dimples underneath that could easily be missed when we're all rushing round getting ready in a morning.

"Please take time to look at your boobs. It could save your life."

Her warning has now gone viral, with more than 50,000 shares since it first went up on the 11th May.

Her sister has since set up a Wig Fund Page, writing: “Sometimes you just feel useless and that's exactly how I feel as my sister lies in hospital today after having a mastectomy age 42.

“That's just s**t! She doesn't deserve that, neither does her family and she certainly doesn't deserve to loose her bloody hair as well.

“So, I thought I'd set up this page after a picture of Lisa boob went literally viral on Facebook!”

“Lisa has done a bloody great job of raising awareness about looking at your boobs; the least we can do is help to get her a nice wig/bra"

She continued: “Lisa has done a bloody great job of raising awareness about looking at your boobs; the least we can do is help to get her a nice wig/bra and maybe some spending money for her Florida 2016 holiday, which I know she is focusing on.

“If everyone of the 15,000 people who saw that photo gave 1p each that would be fabulous!!!

“A big ask and I don't know if this is the right thing to do, but I'm doing it anyway, because, like I said, I feel useless.”

So far they have raised £325 - which is 65% of her £500 goal.
