And now new footage of a 'ghost' appearing at an upstairs window seems to have renewed that claim.

Tony Dooley, who runs the Bolton pub, feared his premises were haunted earlier this year when CCTV appeared to show a ghostly figure standing at his bar during the night.

And now a new video, which has captured a second apparition, has left the pub manager 'convinced' the premises is haunted.

The footage, shot by a Portuguese visitor to the area, sees a strange flickering light at the window of the 763-year-old pub.

Tom told the Mail Online: "My attitude before I became the manager nine months ago was not to believe in ghosts. I'm convinced now."

But who - or what - is causing these strange disturbances at the fourth-oldest pub in Britain?

Well, people are claiming that James Stanley, the seventh Earl of Derby and royalist, spent the last hours of his life at the inn before he was beheaded in 1651 in the final months of the English Civil War.

We wonder if his spirit could be the one behind these disturbances? Or maybe, just maybe, there's a logical explanation for it all and the spooks are all in our minds?
