Coco, an eight year old Rottweiler, was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer earlier this year. But on hearing the news, her heartbroken owner Symon Spencer decided to ensure that Coco’s final weeks were the best of her life.
Along with his partner Theresa Clancy, Symon drew up an incredible bucket list which included 30 amazing things for Coco to experience before she was put to sleep.
The list – which she completed – including having sushi and a McDonald’s, flying in a helicopter and riding in a police car.
“I’m really glad she was able to complete the bucket list,” Coco’s owner Simon said. “She was an amazing dog and I stayed with her the whole time. I was the last thing she saw. The support from everyone has been amazing.”
Symon started a Facebook page for Coco and received huge amounts of support from the public, some of whom took inspiration from his idea.
He said: “Initially I only set up her Facebook page for me to document everything for my own organisation and so I had something to look back on. When I saw she had more than 300 friends I couldn’t believe it, I never thought her story would spread so far, I’ve had a lot of support.”
Sadly Coco passed away earlier this month and Symon has revealed he’s struggling to cope with her death, adding: “When she was giving her last breath, I was kissing her lots and hugging her. I feel absolutely empty now.”
