Thankfully 5ft 1 Sophie is now in recovery, weighing 6st 9lbs and a size 8. And she credits one-year-old miniature dachshund Eevee with saving her life.

Sophie, 25, says: "Eevee fell ill and a vet told me she needed feeding every 20 minutes or she'd die. If I didn't eat I could die too.

"It was a turning point. Once she was better, I admitted myself to an eating disorder clinic. Now I'm putting on weight. Without Eevee, I wouldn't be here."
