24-year-old Jamie Kelly was on a Ryanair flight from Barcelona to Dublin when he met a Canadian woman named Katie.

They began chatting in the terminal at Barcelona airport, and once they were on the plane Kelly offered up the free seats next to him for his beautiful new friend.

They chatted for the duration of the flight, but were dramatically separated at passport control when Jamie was forced to enter a queue for EU-only and Katie was directed to the non-EU line.

Jamie waited for Katie at arrivals, but she never showed up.

The romantic Irishman refused to give up, and took to Twitter to search for his mystery woman, using the hashtags #findkatie and #loveatfirstflight.

Word spread to Katie’s native Canada and Jamie made his TV debut on the Ray D’Arcy show in a bid to find his long lost love.

He said: “We started chatting and hit it off. I think we made a connection anyways.

“I originally looked for her Facebook and couldn’t find her. And I went to the airline and they couldn’t do anything for me.”

Luckily, one of Katie’s relatives noticed Jamie’s plea to find her.

It was revealed that Katie (surname Moreau) was ‘surprised and flattered’ that the ‘handsome Irishman’ had been searching for her.
