As many parents will tell you, most young children go through a difficult stage; tantrums, throwing food, refusing to go to bed… you know the sort.

However this mother has taken to Reddit to share her own terrifying experiences with her own little girl - whom she fears has become 'possessed' by a demon.

The married mum-of-two wrote on Reddit's No/Sleep forum that her suspicions began with an unsettling drawing.

She wrote: "She has scribbled the page entirely black, save for two gaping-wide circle eyes, and a big slice of untouched white, through the centre of the page. Where, I assume, she is waiting to use a yellow marker.

"For the teeth."

She explained that all the images - which her eldest daughter Colby insisted were of her 'friends' - were the same, writing: "There is definitely a running theme, here.

"Every page is just soaked in scribbles, filled in as completely as she has focus for. Black-green, orange and red and purple layered together so thick it's like tar. And always the eyes. Big and hollow. And always red."

The worried mum took the drawings away from her daughter, insisting that she was going to show them to her husband.

But, as she left the room, there was a shattering noise.

"My favourite mug is on the floor in three big pieces and a bunch of little ones beside. It's an old one of my dad's, with a smattering of hot air balloons close to the handle.

"And there is Colby. In her pyjamas, with her sleep-tousled hair, standing some three feet from the mess. Staring at me with wide eyes, gripping the barrel of her black Crayola."

Things got worse.

As Colby insisted that she hadn't smashes the mug, the mum realised that "the papers on the counter are gone.

"I'd set the mug there to weigh them down and it's shattered on the floor and they are gone."

After searching the house for the pictures, the increasingly concerned mother put Colby in time out - but, after waiting outside the little girl's room, she realised that the child was speaking to someone.

Or something.

"The door is cracked open. And she's talking. Chatting out loud into the open air, and when I step to the side I can see her between the door and the frame and she is hunched over on the floor with a marker in her hand, hair falling over her face while she works.

"'So now Mommy's mad and I told you she would be and she won't think it was Chessy [her sister].' She looks up, staring down something in the corner and scowls, deep. 'Because Chessy's too little, you big dumbhead, she can't even reach!'"

Things got worse.

Later that evening she finally found the pictures - but they had been scribbled out with thick black marker pen.

******She said: "Where were the wide circle eyes? Where was the empty gash where its maw should be?

"All gone. Scribbled out into oblivion, in tarry black marker, thick and staining my fingertips as I held it, agape."

The next morning, after Colby had been taken to school, the panicky mum - after convincing herself she'd overreacted - attempted to doze off.

But, just a few hours, she was woken up by her husband. Colby had been suspended.

"A boy in her class had called her a bad word, and Colby had evidently assured him that her friends were going to come and kill him."
