While many parents choose to ground their children when they're misbehaving, Cindy Bjerke decided to get inventive with her own brand of punishment.

So, when her 18-year-old daughter began behaving like a 'spoiled brat', the incensed mother took to Fargo Moorhead Online Garage Sale on Facebook to sell the girl's tickets for Katy Perry's Dark Horse concert.

She wrote: "Daughter is a spoiled brat and doesn't deserve these tickets. For sale, 2 Katy Perry tickets for August 23rd in Fargo. Section 50, Row G, Seats 3&4. Paid $110, will take $90."

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the tickets sold out in just under five minutes - with the message receiving over 200 likes in just an hour.

However Bjerke’s punishment has been criticised by other parents, who have said she was wrong to publicly humiliate her daughter.

She defended her actions, telling local media outlet WDAZ: “I think a lot of parents are like me where they feel like they’re being bullied about how they should parent their own children.

“It doesn’t matter what side you’re on, you’re always wrong to somebody.”

The Facebook page where the ticket sale was posted is, in fact, a closed group, which people have to ask permission to join.

The post so only visible to the 17,000 members of the group and the page administrator reportedly deleted it on the grounds that it distracting from the purpose.

We guess, for this teenager, those Katy Perry tickets will have to be "the ones that got away".
