When a teenage girl arrived with a bulging stomach at her local hospital, Nurse Maricar Cabral-Osorio thought she was pregnant.

But an ultrasound showed no signs of a baby.

Speaking on new series Untold Stories Of The ER, Maricar explained: "Something was in her intestines."

They soon discovered the truth when the girl went to the bathroom and started screaming.

"It was so gross and she had pooped all these tapeworms. There were a couple that were very long and wiggling around trying to get out of the toilet bowl."

Since the tapeworms were now out of the girl's body, the pains would stop and she would make a full recovery.

But one question remained.

Maricar said: "We were wondering 'how did she get those tapeworms?' - and then you saw the mom turn white.

"The mom was apologising to the girl. It's like 'I'm so sorry. You know, I did it just to make you a little skinnier. You needed some help before we went on to the pageant."

The mother later admitted that she had given the girl pills with tapeworm eggs - making this one of the most disgusting diet fads we've ever heard of.
