Melany Joyce Alexander, 31, is facing child abuse charges after she allegedly beat her daughter with a belt.
She then sent the girl to school wearing a t-shirt that said, in scrawled handwriting, that she had been punished for getting bad grades in school.
The writing also warned others to back off and not help, or the girl would be given another "good woopin."
The front of the t-shirt said the following:
"My name is (word removed) I currently have all F's in all of my classes. I am not aloud to have a boyfriend no time soon. So back off before I get another good woopin like I got last night.
"Also I can no longer have ANY friends until ALL of my F's are ALL brought up to C's and up!!! So unless you are helping me with this goal... BACK OFF!!!"
The back of the shirt continued: "My eating french fries & being a social butterfly is over because I know why my parents send me to school. I now know the education. I will learn.
"I will listen to my teachers and be respectful, at all times. I will do these things because I am failing (word removed) due to my social life.
"Want to be my friend :) Help me by not!!! [sic]"
According to police, the child had been hit with a "leather belt with holes with metal divots, which left clear impressions in several places to include both arms, neck, chest, back and legs."
Alexander later admitted to hitting the child with a belt and was charged with cruelty toward a child in which the abuse causes great bodily harm or a disability.
Alexander was released after posting $2,500 bond.
