"I was amazed when I heard Kate Middleton was expecting another baby. I also suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum, or extreme morning sickness, and I can't imagine going through it again so soon, especially with a lively toddler to look after.
"A lot of people still don't understand how severe the condition is – at my worst I was sick 20 times a day, and my symptoms lasted right up until the day I gave birth. I was hospitalised twice, put on a drip and at times I would vomit so violently that my throat bled.
"The nausea started just four weeks into my pregnancy, and I quickly realised this was more than just a touch of morning sickness. It was constant – from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to bed – and there was no relief from it, not even being sick would stop the feelings of sickness and dizziness.
"For the first few months, I was sick up to 20 times a day and struggled to eat or drink anything. All I could stomach were toasted ham sandwiches and water sipped through a straw – and even that would come straight back up. I was signed off work and barely left the house – even getting out of bed felt like a mammoth task.
"My GP prescribed me anti-sickness medication, but it did little to help, and I twice ended up so severely dehydrated I was admitted to hospital and put on a drip.

"Despite feeling a little better when I went back to work at 20 weeks pregnant, I was still being sick several times a day, every day. Concerned my baby wasn't getting the nutrients she needed, I tried to eat normally – I just had to accept I would most likely see my dinner again!
"Work were really supportive when I needed time off, which made a big difference, and I'm lucky that my husband Simon and the rest of my family were amazing too.
"Doctors reassured me my baby was growing normally, but I was still desperately worried. I had lost 10lbs in the first 12 weeks of my pregnancy and ended up only putting on 6lbs in total.
"It was such a relief when my beautiful baby Felicity was born last month. She was 12 days early but a healthy weight at 6lbs 2oz. Holding her made everything I'd gone through all worthwhile. And despite the lack of sleep, I felt incredible – the nausea subsided almost immediately and it's so good to feel normal again!
"Although I'd love to give Felicity a brother or sister one day, unlike Kate I'm in no rush to fall pregnant again. It was nine months of hell, and took such a toll on my body that I definitely need to give myself a break before I go through it again."
