Smiling confidently, pretty Adele Bellis looks happy and relaxed- a far cry from 18 months ago, when she suffered horrifying burns after sulphuric acid was thrown in her face in a twisted revenge attack.

Adele's right ear was destroyed, she was left partially bald and suffered serious burns to the side of her face, neck, arm and hand after violent ex Anthony Riley, 26, arranged for acid to be hurled in her face.

Riley has since been sentenced to life with a minimum of 13 years and defiant Adele, 23, has refused to let the attack ruin her life.

Adele says: "The past few years have been hard, so I'm looking forward to a fresh start. The attack left me traumatised, but counselling has helped a lot.

"Anthony once said that if he couldn't have me then he'd make sure no one else would want me but I'm determined to date again. I don't feel the need to hide my scars- they're part of who I am.

"When I do meet The One, I want to get married on 14 August - the date I was attacked - to show him he didn't win. People say I'm brave but I've just done what I had to. Even though my ex melted my face and I'll always need treatment, I'm so lucky to be alive and can't wait to find love."
