Brealyn Adams was awarded with a bravery certificate and a teddy in a paramedic uniform, at the headquarters of East Midlands Ambulance Service.
When Brealyn’s mum Kathryn collapsed in May, her brave son called 999 to save her. The little boy also helped to look after his mum by calmly following the instructions of emergency medical dispatcher, Jennie Kirkland.
Brealyn made his collapsed mum more comfortable by surrounding her with cushions. With Jennie’s help, he also answered questions about his mum’s condition and checked to see if she was breathing.
As well as receiving a certificate for bravery, Brealyn got to meet Jennie, who had talked him through how to look after his mum over the phone.
The boy said: “I am really happy to have met Jennie because she helped save my mummy’s life”.

Kathryn Adams, who has now recovered, highlighted not just the importance of paramedics, but also of those who work behind the scenes at the Ambulance Service.
She was also excited to meet Jennie, saying: “At the end of the day she is a life saver”.
Kathryn is a reminder of how important it is to teach children what to do in an emergency and her little son Brealyn is certainly the perfect example of a young lifesaver.
