When Deirdre Kelly entered the Celebrity Big Brother house last week one person who was glued to the TV was her 16-year-old daughter Caitlin.

Dee, 43, who rose to fame in C4 show Benefits Street back in January, caused outrage after it was revealed she hadn’t worked since 2007 and until recently was claiming 20k a year in state handouts insisting she was too depressed to work.

Since then, Dee- who’s reportedly receiving £100k fee to appear on CBB- claims she’s come off benefits, using her newfound ‘celeb’ status to cash in through TV appearances and media deals.

Speaking exclusively to Closer, Caitlin says: “After we were on Benefits Street, people gave her a hard time in the papers and that angered me. Mum wanted to work but couldn’t because she was depressed. There’s nothing wrong with claiming benefits. I liked her being off work as it meant she could spend time with us.

“She can afford treats and has promised she’ll buy me my first car with her earnings. We can do more as a family.”
