The blogger, known as Lena, writes that when she found out she was pregnant in 2012 (something she describes as a diagnosis), she was happy.
But that quickly changed.
When she attended an ultrasound appointment, she was told that the foetus was a boy, something which made her feel ‘as though her body had betrayed her.’
She wrote: ‘I was in shock, I started crying, weeping at the thought of what I was about to curse the world with.
And the lack of perspective just got worse: ‘Crying, sobbing, uncontrollable weeping, mental anguish the likes of which may only be experienced by those who have had their lives destroyed by war, I was a refugee, and my home was my refugee camp, an unfamiliar place that was just… sheltering me.’
But, eventually, Lena regained her composure.
She then attended an abortion clinic and has the foetus removed.
‘I don’t hate men’ wrote Lena. ‘I hate the patriarchy, what men, and even some women, turn into, I wasn’t going to let that happen with my offspring.’
Lena even went so far as to say: ‘If the curse returns, I would do the exact same thing all over again.’
