Last week, 16-year-old Bailey Gwynne was tragically stabbed to death at school in a shocking attack, leaving his loved ones devastated.
The schoolboy, who dreamed of being a Royal Marine, died after being knifed in the stomach during a lunch-break row at high-achieving Cults Academy comprehensive, in Aberdeen.
Shortly after the attack, a 16-year-old boy appeared in court charged with murder and was remanded in custody. In a heartbreaking statement his family, including mum Kate, 33, said: "Bailey's is our beloved boy and our heart. Our hearts have gone with him... He never failed to make us smile... He will always be our boy."
Debbie Kinsella, 53, and her daughter ex-Eastenders actress Brooke, 32, know only too well the devastation Bailey's family are going through. Brooke's brother Ben was 16 when he was stabbed to death in 2008. After his death the family set up the Ben Kinsella Trust, and have since worked tirelessly to raise awareness of knife crime.
Debbie says: "Hearing about this latest attack is heartbreaking. No family should go through the agony we've been through.
"It's shocking that this attack happened at school- a place where children should be safe. My heart goes out to the family, who are at the start of a difficult journey. The pain never goes away. More needs to be done to stop this happening again."
Brooke adds: "We set up our charity to ensure no other young person's life is senselessly taken."
