Dede Carraway allowed her 12-year-old daughter Jacee Dellapenna to help doctors deliver her baby brother Cayson

There are few more precious moments in the world than the birth of your child.

But for one family, the birth of their newest addition to the family was even more incredible.

Dede Carraway was giving birth to her son on Tuesday 6 June when her doctor asked whether her 12-year-old daughter Jacee would like to help deliver the baby - and that she did!

In a Facebook post that has since gone viral, Dede explained to Love What Matters that Jacee had wanted to be at the birth of her other child Zadyn 18 months previously, but she and her partner didn't think she was quite old enough.

She said: "This pregnancy, her dad and I discussed it and decided it might be a good learning experience for her! Jacee came to the hospital with my husband Zack and I."

Dede, who named her baby Cayson, explained that Jacee began to become upset as she couldn't see what was happening once she started to push and doctors converted her bed.

Jacee has become rather famous in her home state of Mississippi after appearing on her local new station, MS News Now, and told them: "I started crying because I thought I wasn't going to get to see him be born, because I was too short."

But Dede's doctor, Dr Walter Wolfe, then came up with an idea for the family: "My doctor then suggested, 'Jacee why don't you suit up and come deliver the baby'."

She told MS News Now that she was initially against the idea, but then came around when her husband Zack said he didn't mind: "She got suited up for delivery. Although the pain from the contractions and the pushing hurt me so bad, watching the expressions on Jacee's face were like no other."

Jacee, who described the experience as "the best moment of my life", told the news channel: "I actually delivered him, he let me actually push down and pull the baby out... I was like, 'Wow, I've played fake doctor before, but this is the real thing, this is is the real deal'. I was really nervous!"

The incredible photos show Jacee's pure joy and love at helping her baby brother into the world.

Dede went on: "Concentrating on her face while I pushed helped me so much! Dr Wolfe actually put her hands on the inside of his and allowed her to do the entire delivery. We were all very emotional and it was like no feeling I've ever felt.

"It's not every day your eldest child at 12-years-old gets to deliver your last child."

Dede also added that, whilst Jacee had been considering a career as a vet, she's now thinking of swapping to be an OB/GYN... We're not surprised!

Congratulations to the family!
