As part of his strategy, Osborne wants to freeze benefit costs for people who are ‘within working age’. The proposal comes despite rising inflation which continues to increase the cost of living.

The decision will not affect pensions, maternity pay or disability benefits, but would impact the income of over 10 million households.

Deidre- also known as White Dee- spoke to several news outlets about the decision to put a cap on benefits.

White Dee thinks politicians should take a pay cut

“So I reckon the government's just jumping on the bandwagon and thinking they’ll gain popularity with the public when they say 'what we're going to do is cut, cut, cut and it'll make the country a better place'.”

The 43-year-old continued: “In reality people need to look and see it was actually the government who put us in this state in the first place and it's them who need to pull us back out.

“They shouldn't just take it out on people who are part of the benefits system.”

The Celebrity Big Brother star even came up with alternative to Mr Osborne’s plans, telling the broadcaster: “Maybe they should cut their wages and we could get out of this mess we're in now a lot quicker.”
