Dee – real name Deirdre Kelly – recently came under fire when it was reported that she was earning money while on holiday in Magaluf.
But this is the first time the 42-year-old has confirmed she is taking work while claiming £20,000 a year in benefits.
Speaking to The Sun, the Benefits Street star said: “I’m not doing anything wrong. If people have a problem with how much I’m getting they should speak to David Cameron.”
The unapologetic mum-of-two claims she can’t work because she suffers from depression, but she is cashing in on the celebrity status the Channel 4 show has given her.
There is even talks that she will appear on the next series of Celebrity Big Brother.
“Yes, I am taking casual work,” she told the newspaper. “I won’t tell you how much I’m earning but it’s not half as much as people think.
“I’m definitely not earning millions. I’m not even earning thousands. I don’t want to make public knowledge how much I’ve made but I’ve got nothing to hide.”
Dee, from Birmingham, is sticking by her statement that she is doing nothing wrong, adding: “I report everything I make to the authorities. It’s up to them when I come off benefits.
“I’m not doing anything wrong. If people have a problem with how much I’m getting they should speak to David Cameron.”
