A shocking social experiment has highlighted how few people would speak out to defend someone experiencing domestic violence.

The organisation, STHLM Panda, in Sweden used hidden cameras to gauge the reaction of people witnessing a violence between a couple.

The cameras, which were placed in a lift, revealed that only two per cent of people would step in.

The video released earlier this week showed a young couple, both played by actors, involved in a fierce argument with the male pushing the woman against a wall in each ‘scene.’

Out of the 53 people sharing the lift with them, only one spoke out, telling the man she will “call the police” if he puts his hands on the woman again.

They now plan to organise another experiment, with a woman being abusive towards a man to see whether the results differ.
