Garry and Chantal Whitehouse managed to catch their 1-year-old son Jenson’s first steps on camera and were- understandably- overjoyed by his amazing development.

In December last year, Jenson appeared to having trouble with basic movements- including sitting up and crawling- which most babies his age were beginning to master.

Garry and Chantal took him to their local GP where he was referred for tests. The worried parents were then informed by doctors that he had Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Specialists told the distraught parents that Jenson would be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life as the disease progressively worsened.

There is no cure for Jenson’s condition.

However, the one-year-old decided to prove doctors wrong and just months after his diagnosis he managed to stand up on his own two feet and take his first steps.

Proof that with plenty of hope and faith, you can overcome anything the world throws at you!
