When Natasha Fox discovered her father was an anonymous sperm donor she always hoped she'd meet him one day.

She grew up with her single mum Carol, 53 – who chose to be a lone parent after suffering fertility problems - and attempted to track down her father at 14.

During her search, Natasha, now 22, discovered she has four half siblings, but her donor has yet to make contact.

Speaking as the NHS is set to open its first sperm bank in October – where couples with fertility problems, lesbian couples, and single women will pay just £300 for a donor – politics student Natasha, from Edinburgh, tells Closer she supports the new move, despite longing to find her father.

She says: “It’s great the NHS is helping single mums to start a family. I don’t believe you need two parents to be happy – but at times I’ve missed a father figure in my life.

“I’ve been told about my father's appearance and hobbies, but unless he voluntarily agrees to remove his anonymity, I can’t find out anything else about him. I have a happy life with Mum – but I’m worried I’ll never get to meet my dad.”
