So, yesterday marked America’s National Weed Day – or 4/20 as they call it across the pond.
Marijuana lovers over the nation got together to discuss and practise their mutual interest, despite it still being an illegal substance in most states.
In order to celebrate properly, Snapchat decided to bring out a special new feature for ‘Marijuana Day.’
Reggae legend Bob Marley was added as a filter on the picture-snapping app, allowing mutual music and marijuana fans to reimagine themselves as the icon.
Unfortunately this simply did not go down well with some of the app users, as they accused the creators of encouraging caucasian users to ‘black up.’

Other disgruntled fans accused them of portraying a musical genius as no more than a ‘weed mascot.’
In response to the online uproar, the app hit back to defend their creation.
The said in an email statement:
"The lens we launched today was created in partnership with the Bob Marley Estate and gives people a new way to share their appreciation for Bob Marley and his music.
"Millions of Snapchatters have enjoyed Bob Marley's music, and we respect his life and achievements."
