Animal lovers have been left outraged by the shocking video, which was taken on CCTV.
Hannah Bennett is seen kicking the dog before dragging him but his collar.
Members of the public had to intervene to release the dog from Bennett’s grip.
The 35-year-old was arrested and charged with causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. She was given a five-year ban from keeping animals and suspended two-week jail sentence.
Bennett, who lives in Direst, was also told she must pay an £80 victim surcharge.
Following the brutal attack, the 13-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier was taken to the vet where he was found to have tenderness to his stomach area and blood in his urine from his injuries.
He was treated for 10 days and once he recovered he was handed over the RSPCA to be rehomed.
RSPCA inspector Graham Hammond said: "Mace clearly trusted his owner and she abused this trust when she kicked him. "No animal should have to suffer at the hands of its owner as they are the one person in the world who should be caring for that animal."
