Police have released the 'disturbing' CCTV footage in a bid to track down the man, who spent over half an hour lurking outside the young child's bedroom window with his genitals exposed.

He can be seen vigorously masturbating before prowling around the garden without his trousers on.

Detectives believe the incident could be linked to a similar occurrence on nearby Gabriel's Terrace, when a woman spotted a man staring at her through her kitchen window.

When she saw him he ran off.

Detective Inspector Lee Hopwood, based at Middleton in Manchester, said: "These are truly disturbing incidents that have caused the victims some considerable upset.

"To know that a strange man has been prowling round the outside of your property is bad enough, but to know what he was doing there is even worse.

"Make no mistake, this type of crime isn't just offensive or rude, it is deeply upsetting and unsettling for the victims.

"I now want people to take a good look at the man in the footage and tell us who he is."
