Primary school pupil Aaron Dugmore- who has learning difficulties- also claimed he was being bullied at school before the family argument, an inquest has heard.

Birmingham coroner Louise Hunt has described the Aaron’s death as ‘an absolute tragedy.’

After finding him unconscious, his parents tried to revive him but it was too late.

Aaron’s mother Kelly Dugmore told the inquest that her son had seemed upset when she picked him up from school that day.

“He’d had an argument with another pupil, there was some pushing and shoving and I called him away.”

She then refused to buy him sweets on the way home from school, and sent him to his room to ‘calm down.’

“I heard a scream and went upstairs and saw Aaron hanging,” Kelly said.

“I got him down and we were trying to get breath into his mouth and we also called an ambulance.”

As far as Kelly knew, Aaron had never talked about taking his own life beforehand and she was not aware of him seeing any scenes of hanging on television.

She said: “I got him down and we were trying to get breath into his mouth and we also called an ambulance.”

“I considered that maybe one of the children at the school told him to do something.”

Mrs Hunt later said at the inquest: “It’s clear that mum and stepdad did everything they possibly could to administer first aid - full credit to you for everything you tried to do.”“For suicide I have to be sure and I have no evidence about what his thoughts were or intentions were at that time, so I’m not going to consider a suicide conclusion.”

“I’m also not sure a boy of that age could fully appreciate the consequences of that act and he had never spoken of doing anything like this before.”
