A new reality series will show women giving birth in the wild, without the aid of doctors or medical professionals, it has been revealed.

Born in the Wild will show men and women who have decided to give birth in the outdoors, without any shelter or medical assistance.

According to reports, the series, that will air on Lifetime, has been inspired by a YouTube video that shows a woman giving birth in a tropical creek.

But many fear this new series will start a dangerous trend that could put women at risk of complications for them and their babies.

The video entitled 'Birth in Nature: Natural Birth', was posted to YouTube and has over 20 million views. Writing at the beginning of the video, the mother says: 'I decided to give birth at a creek I fell in love with, a few minutes drive down the road. The water is pristine pure and the most amazing fresh water I have ever tasted in my life.'

In the video, the woman can be seen, surrounded by her children, kneeling naked in the creek as she gives birth to her fourth child. Watch the footage below, but please note it is explicit.
