Reeva Steenkamp’s parents recently described their “disbelief” at the acquittal of Oscar Pistorius for murder, voicing their anger for the first time since his trial began six months ago.
Barry and June Steenkamp, whose daughter died instantly when Pistorius shot her through a locked lavatory door last year, said they were shocked that he escaped a murder charge.
June Steenkamp said to NBC: "She died a horrible death. A horrible, painful, terrible death. And she suffered, you know?
“I just don’t feel that this is the right sentence. They believe his story, and I don’t believe that story — that’s the difference. And I can’t believe that they believe it was an accident.”
And it seems as if 30-year-old Katie Piper is in full agreement the Steenkamps.
Speaking in her column, she branded the Paralympian as "selfish", adding that he "must face the consequences" of his actions - regardless of how much he may regret his behaviour now.
She wrote: "Pistorius could get away with a suspended sentence, which seems totally inappropriate after taking a life. Time in jail is the only just outcome.
"Whoever he thought was in that bathroom – Reeva or an intruder – he still fired four shots, so it’s clear to me that he intended to kill.
"And if you knowingly kill someone then you must face the consequences."

The mum-of-me added: "Much has been made of the extreme emotion Pistorius has shown in court – sobbing, dribbling, retching and vomiting. But you can’t measure remorse by the degree of emotion displayed.
"I’m sure he does deeply regret his actions now, but who is he really sorry for – himself or poor Reeva and her family? It looks to me like the completely selfish reaction of a man trying to stay out of prison."
Focusing on the grieving parents of Reeva Steenkamp, Katie added that the Paralympian must go to prison - to ensure there is justice for the family.
She said: "The end of the trial and a conviction will bring some sort of closure for Reeva’s parents but I think the punishment will be the key to whether they can really move on.
"Until sentence has been passed we won’t know if there has been any kind of justice for Reeva."

Oscar Pistorius, who has been found guilty of culpable homicide, will appear in court on 13th October to be sentenced.
Until that time, he has been released on bail.
