The judge who sentenced the teenage killer of teacher Ann Maguire recently defended his decision to publicly identify the 16-year-old.

Speaking about Will Cornick, who has received a life sentence for the schoolroom murder, said: "Ill-informed commentators may scoff, but those of us involved in the criminal justice system know that deterrence will almost always be a factor in the naming of those involved in offences such as this.

"There are wider issues at stake, such as the safety of teachers, the possibility of American-style security measures in schools, and the dangers of 'internet loners' concocting violent fantasies on the internet.

"I consider that the debate on those issues will be informed by the identification of William Cornick as the killer."

And it seems he has found support in Katie Hopkins.

The former Apprentice contestant tweeted: "Will Cornick now faces prison justice and is on suicide watch. Personally I'd offer him a rope and some privacy"

Katie Hopkins, 39, then linked Twitter followers to her blog, where she continued: "I am glad the feral creature has been named and shamed for killing the lovely teacher, Ann Maguire.

"Cornick is about to face the consequences of his actions, and they are going to be tough.

"If there is one thing I admire about prisons, it is prison justice."

The mum-of-three added: "His barrister, Richard Wright QC, said there was a real and immediate danger Cornick would either kill himself or be attacked by other inmates if named.

"Good show. Let the performance commence.

"He has already had to be moved due to threats and fears for his safety. Personally, I’d offer him a rope and some privacy."

Katie finished: "It will cost £250,000 to give Cornick a new identity if he is released from jail.

"I hope inside is so unbearable he chooses not to carry on and saves us the cash.

"Am I sorry? No, I’m not sorry either, Will Cornick. In my eyes, everything is just fine and dandy."
