The Olympic gold medallist made the request earlier and will request they take her name from the stand at Bramall Lane if the club sign up the 25-year-old.

Since Evans started training this week, three patrons of the club have stepped down from their positions, TV presenter Charlie Webster, businesswoman Lindsay Graham and Dave Berry.

“I believe being a role model to young people is a huge honour and those in positions of influence in communities should respect the role they play in young people’s lives and set a good example,” Jessica said in a statement issued tonight.

“If Evans was to be re-signed by the club it would completely contradict these beliefs.”

Evans was released from prison last month after serving half of his sentence for the rape of a 19 year old girl in a hotel room in North Wales.

He has always maintained his innocence.

Currently a petition which is asking for the club not to resign the Evans has over 160,000 signatures.

What do you think? Should Evans be allowed to play for the club again?
