Andrew Salmon appeared in court following the incident, which happened after Andrew’s wife Beverly allegedly sang ‘ding dong, the witch is dead’ following the death of Andrew’s mother.

The court heard that Beverly had been locked out of their home in Cornwall and sought refuge in the couple’s garden shed.

She was then locked in by her 42-year-old husband.

Andrew explained: ‘She never really got on with my mum or any of my relatives and when my mum died she was horrible and offered me no support – she was extremely unsympathetic.’

Andrew then went about their home and packed up her belongings.

Beverly managed to escape the shed and make her way back into the house and it was then that husband Andrew reportedly threw Beverly onto their bed, choked her and pulled open her shirt and ‘twisted’ her breasts.

Andrew, who has no previous convictions, claims that his wife was having an affair and that she was not supportive enough to him following the loss of his mother.

He pleaded guilty to assault and will be sentenced in a few weeks time.
