Friends actor Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing in the hit TV show, has made no secret of his battles with drink and drug abuse. And so it makes sense that, when confronted with anti-drug campaigner Peter Hitchens, the pair ended up in a heated debate.
Matthew Perry hasn't been shy about talking about his addictions; in May, he explained to ABC News that, during his time on Friends, he became an expert at hiding his troubles from co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow.
He has entered rehab twice to treat an addiction to the opioids Vicodin and methadone, as well as amphetamines and alcohol, and has since turned his life around.
The actor has even turned his former beachfront Malibu, California home to a sober living home for men transitioning back to the real world.
But whose argument do you support?
Do you agree with Matthew Perry - is drug addiction an illness that requires treating? Or do you believe that, as Peter Hitchens does, taking drugs is a choice and should be punished? Comment below and let us know your thoughts.
