Britain's youngest Euromillions winner Jane Park was in court yesterday for a drink driving offence
The country was taken aback when Britain's youngest ever Euromillions winner announced she wanted to sue the Lotto last month.
But Jane Park, now going by her mother's surname Restorick, is on a downward spiral, as she appeared in court yesterday for drink driving to McDonald's last October.
The 21-year-old, who was aged just 17 when she won the lottery in 2013, was handed an 18-month driving ban at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and fined £900.
Jane, from Edinburgh, was three times over the drink-drive limit on October 8 last year, when she drove her and a friend to a McDonald's in Straiton after a night out at around 5:45am.
Staff were alerted to her drunken state by her slurred speech when placing her order, and they called police who found that Jane had 66mg of alcohol where the limit is 22mg.
Jane's lawyer, Stephen Mannifield, said: "It was a mistake. She had consumed alcohol three times the limit and decided to transfer herself and a friend to McDonald's".
Mr Mannifield went on to say that although Restorick had a limited record, she had no previous road traffic offence convictions. He said: "As a result of Restorick's poor decision-making, it would be beneficial for her to undergo the drink-driving course."
Sheriff Gordon Liddle said: "Anyone with that amount of alcohol is a danger to the public. You could have killed someone and you would have been in a different court on a different charge and lost your freedom for a considerable period of time."
She was also fined £110 last May when she assaulted a bouncer.
Only three weeks ago, Closer Magazine spoke to Jane after her revelation that she was considering pursuing a claim. She said: "Sometimes I feel so lonely, I cry myself to sleep.
"I received nasty comments online after my win. It affected my confidence and I decided to have surgery.
"Most days I think my life would have been easier if I hadn't have won. My life is empty."
Jane also appeared on This Morning and Loose Women talking about her win.
