Emotional journalist breaks down over children’s death during shocking live Gaza report

A journalist has broken down during a live broadcast, overcome with emotion after witnessing the deaths of hundreds of civilians in the Israel/Palestine conflict.

Award winning Al Jazeera correspondent Wael Al-Dahdouh was forced to walk off camera mid-report as he was recounting the bombing of the Shujayea neighbourhood in Gaza, where over 100 people lost their lives Sunday night.

The journalist has been covering the conflict for many years but was noticeably moved by the levels of violence seen in recent weeks.

635 Palestinians have been killed, 29 Israeli soldiers, and 2 Israeli civilians in the past two weeks alone. It is thought that 1 in 5 of the 635 Palestinians who have lost their lives are children.

Israel continue to shell Gaza from both sides, both the sea and land, meaning there is nowhere for Palestinians to evacuate to. Hamas, from Palestine, continue to send rockets over the border into Israel.

On Sunday, Doctor Mads Gilbert, working in Gaza, wrote an open letter to President Obama, calling on him to spend 'one night with us in Shifa.' He added that 'Nobody with a heart and power could ever walk away from a night in Shifa without being determined to end the slaughter of the Palestinian people.'
