It's the end of an era as Dippy the diplodocus, who has been a main attraction at London's Natural History Museum since 1905, is coming down.
Boo.
But the good news is he's going to be embarking on a two-year tour of the UK - and might be turning up at a museum near you!
It's estimated that it will take museum staff three-and-a-half weeks to dismantle Dippy, who is 70ft long and made up of 292 'bones' (which actually aren't bones at all, but plaster-cast replicas).
And fans of the Natural History Museum, fear not. Dippy is being replaced by the skeleton of a blue whale, which at 83ft long is even bigger, and is the geniune article (i.e. not plaster-cast)
So, where can you catch Dippy? Well sadly he won't be hitting the road till 2018, but if you're feeling organised, here's where he'll be popping up:
-
May-September 2018 - Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery
-
September 2018-January 2019 - Ulster Museum, Belfast
-
January-May 2019 - Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow
-
May-October 2019 - Great North Museum: Hancock, Newcastle
-
October 2019-January 2020 - National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff
-
February-June 20w0 - Number One Riverside, Rochdale
-
July-October 2020 - Norwich Cathedral
