Convicted paedophile Aaron Collis lied to police that he'd killed Madeleine McCann to purposefully waste their time
A convicted paedophile in Cambridgeshire has claimed that he wasted police time on purpose in the Madeleine McCann case.
Aaron Collis, 31, who served seven years in prison for 11 sex offences against children, set up a website to explain his sick reasoning behind the crimes he committed.
On the site, he also claims he went to the police in 2012 saying that he'd killed Madeleine.

The former nursery worker, who has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act and held in a "medium secure hospital", wrote on the website about how he'd "enjoyed" wasting police time.
He also said that he'd done it because he'd wanted to contact Kate and Gerry McCann, after claiming that he'd killed Maddie after seeing her in France in 2007.
Speaking to his local paper, the Cambridge News, he said: "I was doing it to mess them around because I enjoyed it," sickeningly adding: "I still do find it funny."
He continued: "The reasons I lied was to service my own purposes. I've got no reason to lie about anything else. Whether people choose to believe what's on the website. I don't really care.
"I'd rather people hate me than nothing at all. At least it's an emotion. I want people to love me or hate me. I don't want people to think I'm insignificant."
