Campaign group Free A Girl have created a shocking video of young children playing with sex toys to spread awareness of child prostitution

WARNING: SOME READERS MAY FIND IMAGES AND VIDEOS IN THIS ARTICLE DISTRESSING

The above image of a young girl holding a sex toy is enough to give you the heebie-jeebies, isn't it?

It can make viewers uncomfortable to see such a young, innocent little girl handling things like a vibrator and anal beads - it just doesn't seem right!

In the new video made by campaign group Free A Girl, an international organisation aiming to stop child prostitution in Asia, Brazil and the Netherlands, little girls are asked to explain what they think the items might be.

At this point, it's almost funny - especially with suggestions like a hairbrush, hair curler, fly swatter and rolling pin, with one girl giggling as she puts a vibrator in her ear.

A message then appears at the bottom of the screen which reads: "Innocent imagination for these girls. Horrible reality for others."

In scenes which readers may find distressing, a seven-year-old girl can then be seen being auctioned off to an adult man for sex.

The man asks if he can have sex with her or whether she "only does blow jobs". It's truly harrowing to witness, even watching from the comfort of behind a screen.

Child prostitution is rife in the areas that Free A Girl are targeting, with around two million children across the world currently being caught up in the terrible situation.

Director and co-founder of Free A Girl, Evelien Hölsken, told Metro.co.uk: "An estimated two million children all over the world are caught up in prostitution, of whom 1.2 million are in India. Girls are forced to have sex every day with dozens of men.

"We want this to stop and appeal to the whole country to join forces with us and take action. Together, we can liberate the girls from the horrific circumstances in which they live and offer them a bright new future."

This comes as Coronation Street are tackling a child prostitution storyline involving 17-year-old Bethany Platt and her 37-year-old boyfriend Nathan Curtis, who is pimping her out to his group of friends.

Lucy Fallon and Chris Harper, who play Bethany and Nathan, appeared on Lorraine to discuss the storyline. Lucy said: "It's so important that we do it at this time, because we're targeting people who watch Coronation Street that are quite young. They're the people that we want to target so it's so important that it's on at that time."

Chris added: "The really key thing is to start the conversation - whether it's your son or your daughter and you've got concerns, or whether you yourself have been abused in the past."
