The little boy was asked to fill out an individual tax return, something that most adults find confusing let alone a 6-year-old child.
The child, from America, received the letter reading: ‘Dear Mr. Smith: we don’t recognize Susan F. Smith as someone authorized to discuss your tax file. If you want Susan F. Smith to be authorized to discuss your return we suggest you go online and submit form 8892 and form, etc.’
His parents were confused about the mix-up, considering the taxman has access to their son’s social security number and is aware that he is too young to know anything about filing taxes (or earning an income for that matter).
So, mum Susan asked her son to do the polite thing and write back to the taxman correcting their mistake, and requesting that they contact him through her.
He wrote: ‘Dear Taxman, I got your letter. I am now 6-years-old. It is ok if you talk to my mummy, Susan Smith about my tax papers until I’m 18- Paulie Smith.’
That’s them told!
