Angry parents say Hatchimals are SWEARING at them

Are Hatchimals more trouble than they're worth?

This year's most popular Christmas toy seems to be bringing more headaches than joy.

Hatchimals - robotic animals that 'hatch' from an egg as they're played with - sold out across a number of stores in the UK in the run-up to Christmas, but even the lucky people who did get their hands on one aren't happy.

First, there was the problem of them not hatching (even Chrissy Teigen complained hers was taking ages to do what it was meant to do). Then, there was the shock when they started speaking, and appeared to say something VERY rude.

"I'm pretty sure it says 'f--k me'," dad Nick Galego told CTV Vancouver Island. He uploaded a video of the Hatchimal egg appearing to breathe heavily and utter the NSFW phrase.

In response to the video, a spokesperson for Spin Master, the company who make the toys, said: "Hatchimals speak their own language made up of random sounds. We can assure you that the Hatchimal is not saying anything inappropriate. The one in the video appears to be sleeping."

Nick wasn't the only parent to wonder exactly what was coming out of the Hatchimal's beak, though. Another YouTube user uploaded a similar video where a fully-hatched toy was making similar sighing and moaning noises.

The comments ranged from people saying they couldn't hear the swearing to ones saying they were 'creeped out'.

We never had this much trouble with Tamagotchis.
